00:00When you hear Sriracha, what comes to your mind?

00:02For Thais, it's the iconic Sriracha Panit sauce,

00:06but for Americans, it's the famous rooster-branded Sriracha sauce by Hui Fong Food.

00:12So, who came first? Let's find out.

00:14Back in the 1930s, Sriracha Panit was born in the Sriracha district in Chonburi,

00:19crafted by the Thai homemaker Mrs. Thanom Jakkapat.

00:23It was a family recipe turned to local favorite and later distributed nationwide.

00:29Fast forward to 1980 in California,

00:31David Tran, a Vietnamese immigrant, launches a version inspired by Thailand's Sriracha.

00:37The Thai version is sweet with a mild heat,

00:40while the American version brings the fiery tang from the jalapenos.
