China’s UN envoy: US, China must work together on AI

China’s ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has attacked the U.S. government for banning some high profile Chinese tech companies and said both countries should cooperate on AI and technology.

00:13How many more do you want to ban?

00:15For us, the right approach is to open up,

00:19and is to have cooperation,

00:22both on the technological level,

00:24and actually for the political level as well.

00:27Never, ever underestimate the ingenuity

00:31of the Chinese scientists and engineers.

00:34And also I want to say that

00:37some of the knee-jerk reactions from some quarters

00:42is totally unwarranted.

00:44China and the US being the two most advanced countries

00:48in terms of the AI,

00:50we have so much to cooperate.

00:52I always say that AI has profound ramifications

00:58in all aspects of human life.

01:02So actually, in my view,

01:04we cannot afford not to cooperate.
