00:00Could you tell me if you think Sheffield's schools are safe enough, please?
00:03As far as when were they safe, I think yesterday's incident was a one-off.
00:07It doesn't happen very often.
00:09Obviously, it's very tragic that a boy has lost his life.
00:12But how do you stop people carrying knives? It's very difficult.
00:16Especially youngsters, teenagers.
00:18You've only got to look at the number of stabbings that happen in London.
00:22And fortunately, it doesn't happen that often in Sheffield.
00:25But when it does, obviously, it affects a lot of people.
00:29And it must be a worry for other parents, for their children attending the same schools.
00:35So, yeah, it's very tragic.
00:38Do you think Sheffield's schools are safe enough?
00:40No.
00:41Why not?
00:43Well, there's too many lads with knives.
00:46And I think there should be some sort of system put in,
00:49that they're either searched or scanned to see if you've got any knives on them.

00:58No.
00:59We've got a school on our road, and when you see them in gangs coming out and everything,
01:04it makes you frightened to be, even as adults, walking past one, you know.

01:21As I said, I have two kids, two sons, and I'm just much worried about their future,
01:26especially when they're going to high school.
01:29So, yes, I don't think it's safe for children.
01:35Do you think Sheffield's schools are safe enough?
01:38I think there's always room for improvement.
01:40It's really worrying that there is so much knife crime, and it seems to be escalating.
01:44So, I think there is more than can be done, especially at the kind of 12-, 13-, 14-year-old age.
