Sean Bell: Investigation will be two-phased

00:00The American Airlines aircraft seemed to be on a approved flight path, but at 400 feet,

00:05150 miles an hour, it was struck. And of course, the Blackhawk helicopter, which was meant to be

00:10at 200 feet, was subsequently reported the accident was happening at 400 feet. The accident

00:16data recorders are exceptionally good at collecting all the data from the flight,

00:22not only the voice recording, but also all of the position of the aircraft and the like.

00:28The investigation will also be looking at air traffic control tapes, so all of the radar tapes,

00:33the voice tapes as well. And of course, they'll be looking at the pilots, all the pilots involved,

00:39to find out were they fed properly, were they rested properly, were they properly qualified,

00:43have they done their simulators, all of which will be done in an investigation. I flew jets

00:49in my previous career and was the subject of a crash, the Jetport fire. And so I know the way

00:55that these reports go. And generally speaking, they're two phases. They want to have an urgent

01:00report feedback so they can give some preliminary findings to allow people to get on and start to

01:07modify procedures. And the long term, which often takes up to a year before you actually get to the

01:13bottom of the investigation and find out every detail about what had happened.
