Alperen Sengun named to All-Star team

Alperen Sengun just became the Rockets' first drafted player named to an All-Star team since Yao Ming. Payne and Pendergast react to it here.

00:00and I was very sad because they lost 120 to 119. So the the dream of going 4-0 on this road trip,

00:06which would have been highly, I would say 3-1 is highly impressive considering the level of

00:10competition and the fact that the one loss was a one-point loss to the Grizzlies who were without

00:18John Moran, but we were without our all-star as well. Officially, Alper and Shengun made the

00:27all-star. You should be, Alphie. You should be. All in all, a good trip, even though last night,

00:32a wild ending to that game too. Well, it was a wild, but it's just an awful second half where

00:37they just, they collapsed. They did five, they had 12 turnovers in the game. Five of them were

00:43in the fourth quarter, the Rockets did, and they were just sloppy and turning the ball over and

00:51playing poor transition defense, and it came down to the final seconds in a way that

00:59this could have been avoided. This could have been avoided if they just weren't, you know,

01:03taking precautions. They just practiced safe sex. It was wild. The referees thought that

01:08Taylor Jenkins called a timeout, and he didn't, and he got all mad. Yeah, because he scored.

01:16And they said, oh, no, no, no. We thought you guys had scored a timeout. At that point,

01:21I would imagine if the Grizzlies had lost this game, there'd be all kinds of conspiracy theories

01:26floating around about the league trying to help out the Rockets, which I'm here for.

01:30Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, I'm here to be the chiefs of the NBA, for sure, the Kansas City Chiefs. So,

01:37yeah, all in all, not a bad week for the Rockets. Three and one. Now, the Grizzlies,

01:41the team they lost to last night, are nipping at their heels. They're a half game back,

01:45but this'll be fun, man. This'll be a fun few months to see if the Rockets can keep the juice

01:48going and get at least, you know, my hope, Seth, just at least get home field. You have set yourself

01:55a home field, home court, in the first round of the playoff. I will be happy with a one through

02:00four seed for this team, considering the teams that they're in the jumble with right now. OKC,

02:07the Grizzlies are learning. Been good so far, and congrats to Alper and Shangoon

02:12for making the all-star team. That was cool. The first homegrown Rockets player,

02:16the first drafted Rockets player to make the all-star game since Yao Ming. So,

02:23it's been a minute since they drafted an all-star. And I think, you know, and Jalen Green was on a

02:28lot of the lists that I saw for snubs for the all-star game. So, that's, you know, that you're,

02:33hey, man, that you get on the list of snubs and you're a young player means you're ascending.

02:37And I would imagine, I haven't seen Ahmed Thompson's name on a lot of lists of snubs,

02:40but I think that's because he's been kind of a tour de force over the last, like, three or

02:45four weeks, not the entire season. I mean, he's only started going on, what, about 20 games or

02:49so, so far. I mean, that's a huge part of it, too, is just simply where are you on your own

02:53team's depth chart. That tends to carry more weight.
