00:00The live Giants, Batac, Ilocos Norte, Dianne, good morning!
00:06Thanks, Profi!
00:07Good morning to our Correspondents!
00:09We're live here in Batac, Ilocos Norte
00:12and we're here with Ayan Raquel.
00:15He's the Provincial Tourism Officer here in Ilocos Norte.
00:18Good morning, Ayan!
00:20Good morning, Dianne, and to all our viewers.
00:23Alright, you know when we have foreign visitors,
00:27even locals, Ilocos Norte is on their checklist.
00:31What are the main tourist destinations
00:35that they should visit to enjoy here in your area?
00:38They say we're the true north.
00:40If you come to the Philippines,
00:43the best place to start is Tuktok ng Pilipinas North, Ilocos Norte.
00:50Of course, we have our UNESCO sites,
00:54Pawai Church,
00:56and our national landmarks.
00:58We have our towers, many churches,
01:01about 10 colonial churches in the province.
01:03We have Cape Boedor, all our built heritage.
01:07But we have a lot of natural sites.
01:09We have a very long coastline.
01:11Of course, the headline there is Saud Beach in Pagudpud,
01:18one of the top 25 beach destinations.
01:23by World Traveler of Condé Nast.
01:26It's a very unique area where we have a beach park.
01:31This is the only beach in the Philippines
01:35that has public access to a large, spacious white beach.
01:39It's directly on the beach.
01:41We have surfing in Pagudpud.
01:43We have two kinds of surfing that's popular.
01:48The regular surfing, and we have kite surfing and windsurfing.
01:52in Kingfisher.
01:53Of course, when you go down south,
01:57we have the windmills, our wind farms.
02:00Of course, all of our food is popular here,
02:03especially since we're here in Batacayon,
02:05in Empanadaan.
02:07We have a lot to offer.
02:09Recently, we have reactivated our cruise arrivals.
02:14Yesterday, we had a cruise line docked in Curimau Port.
02:20It will continue through the season of February to March.
02:25Wow, there's a lot to visit and do.
02:28If I were to go here, what would be the ideal day
02:34for me to stay here
02:36so that I can go around all of what you said, Ayan?
02:40Of course, we're accessible via land and by air.
02:45We highly recommend flying to Ilocos Norte.
02:47We have regular flights daily, twice daily,
02:51by our two major airlines, Cebpac and PAL.
02:54But you can also come by land,
02:56depending on how you travel.
02:58We highly recommend spending at least two nights.
03:02If you're flying, three nights is ideal.
03:05We can see everything.
03:08Three nights should be the perfect timing
03:13to go to the beach, to other towns in the province,
03:19and also to connect with other provinces.
03:24Actually, I came here in a 45-minute flight.
03:29It's fast, right?
03:30But when you travel, it will take around 10 hours from Manila, right?
03:34Land travel, about eight hours.
03:37If you're traveling at night, it's faster.
03:40Our highways are well-built going north from Manila.
03:45It's much shorter.
03:46Now, before, there's this misconception
03:49that it takes forever to travel by land to Ilocos,
03:52but if you take NLEX and TPLEX, it's really fast.
03:57And it's very convenient to come here.
04:00Beautiful sights and food along the way.
04:02Okay. How are our tourist arrivals?
04:05We're steady.
04:08We've had challenges.
04:10Of course, that's common in all destinations,
04:13but we're steady.
04:15Of course, gas is expensive recently,
04:18but we're giving value to the travel to Ilocos
04:24by, of course, offering the best of the best of the north,
04:29especially here in Ilocos.
04:31How can we help local businesses
04:34and those operating other businesses related to tourism?
04:38So, last year, we had about four typhoons
04:44that hit the province.
04:48Of course, we provided quick aid
04:52to the affected workers.
04:56But for our businesses,
04:58we're giving them assistance for reconstruction,
05:04like labig, the roofing material,
05:07for damaged buildings, especially up north.
05:12Our tourism providers are very supported
05:17by the provincial government,
05:20Sen. Gov. Matt Manotoc,
05:23Vice Gov. Cecil Marcos.
05:24They're very supportive
05:26and very in touch with our tourism network in the province.
05:31And last, please do invite our viewers to visit Ilocos Norte.
05:37It's the best time to come to Ilocos Norte.
05:39It's our coolest month this February,
05:43and it's our provincial fiesta.
05:45It's the anniversary of the province.
05:47We're inviting you to come see
05:49Tanok Ni Ilocano Festival of Festivals.
05:52It's a unique festival happening on February 15
05:55at the Marcos Stadium in Lawag.
05:57It's the best venue.
05:59It's a great, great festival.
06:01And it's the start of summer for us.
06:05It will continue until the province
06:09of Palarong Pambansa hosts the festival in May.
06:12So, let's meet up in Ilocos Norte.
06:15I'm in. I hope, Diane, you're in.
06:17Yes, Feb. 15, so a day after Valentine's.
06:20That's right. You should be here in Ilocos Norte.
06:24It's a beautiful place.
06:26I told you I had a food trip yesterday.
06:28I'll continue today.
06:30I'll try the empanada.
06:32We're just in Batac Plaza.
06:34Well, thank you very much, Ian Rafael.
06:38And to our co-RSPs,
06:40please visit the province of Ilocos Norte.
06:42For now, back to the studio.
06:44Thank you so much, Diane.
06:46Take care and enjoy Ilocos Norte.
