00:00Department of Education and a non-governmental organization celebrated the 11th anniversary
00:05of Peace Day to highlight the role of the youth in upholding peace and in denouncing
00:10wars.
00:11Patricia Bermudez of PIA Calabarzon has the details.
00:17Over 8,000 students, teachers, and officials from the Department of Education's Skowitzib
00:22Office showed the power of education in advancing the youth's involvement in fostering peace
00:27and unity.
00:28In partnership with the heavenly culture World Peace Restoration of Light, an international
00:33non-government organization with UN consultative status for peace matters, the 11th Peace Day
00:39anniversary aims to gather support for the declaration of peace and cessation of war.
00:45This 10-article document will then be submitted to the UN as a roadmap for global cooperation,
00:51conflict resolution, and sustainable peace.
00:53Now we're here in DepEd now, we're invocating in the hearts and minds of the kids, our future
01:01generation, how important peace is, and this is like the investment for peace because they
01:06will become the next future leaders.
01:09The organization partners with DepEd in establishing school clubs as platforms for the youth to
01:15become peace ambassadors.
01:16The 24th Peace Day is not only a review of history, less on history, more on peace, and
01:44it's not only a review of history, less on this town's history in our fight towards freedom.
01:50More importantly, it highlights the youth's role in promoting peace for generations to
01:55come.
