00:00Following the arrest of the Omonoye Chinese spy, two more people were arrested by the authorities for running away from the espionage.

00:08The National Security Council and AFP are insisting that they were arrested for going through a surveillance operation.

00:16This is the details of the national news report of Patrick De Jesus of PTV Manila.

00:22Expect more people to be arrested for espionage following the arrest of the Omonoye Chinese spy.

00:29According to the National Security Council, two more people were arrested in Palawan

00:35because of the noise of some residents during their espionage activity

00:40where evidence was also discovered.

00:44They went to our military bases, Coast Guard bases, where our ships are stationed.

00:55They are in nearby areas and they are placing equipment to be able to record the movement of military personnel.

01:08We have seen the extensive operations that they have been doing in the Philippines

01:13and slowly we are able to disrupt and to stop all of these activities in our country.

01:20Again, the National Security Council and AFP are insisting that they were arrested for going through a surveillance operation.

01:30Don't downplay this. Some are saying that this equipment is not high-tech.

01:35But what matters is the data that is being taken and how it's going to be used.

01:42We are saddened by what the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Foreign Ministry said

01:47that all of these are baseless accusations, all of this is not true and is just a lie.

01:53This was a case build-up. Our government is not stupid.

01:57Retired Associate Justice Antonio Carpio is supportive of the amendment of the law

02:03to the Espionage Law of the Philippines that the NSC is pursuing

02:07and the amendment of the law to Countering Foreign Interference and Malign Influence.

02:13We are now in the cyber age. We have to update really a lot of our criminal laws especially on national security.
