00:00So we got the news today that Eber Flus is official, he's going to be the Cowboys new
00:19defensive coordinator.
00:20He was linebackers coach here from 2011 through 2017, so he knows the organization well.
00:26When you were talking with John Oening yesterday, Brian, about Eber Flus running a Rod Marinelli
00:31type defense, what relevance did that have for you?
00:34What were you thinking about as he was answering that?
00:35I was thinking about, because when Matt first came here, he was under the Rob Ryan administration,
00:41so he was odd front, three down linemen, linebackers kind of a thing.
00:48So he morphed from a guy, and he was one of the guys that was a holdover, him, Jerome
00:54Henderson, guys like that, they were holdovers.
00:56So it was like, he went from like, okay, well I know this, and now I have to learn this.
01:02The one thing I remember Rod Marinelli talking about him was how smart he was.
01:07And there was things that, and Rod realized that having Flus on staff and letting him
01:13call defenses was really a good thing.
01:16Him, Chris Richard, he was like, Rod kind of felt like that maybe the game, he was into
01:22it, but he wasn't into it like these younger coordinators were.
01:25And Flus got a lot of experience that way.
01:27So yeah, with Rod Marinelli, it's about the three technique, we remember how they gave
01:33Tyrone Crawford a ton of money because they thought, Marinelli thought that he was going
01:37to be a perfect three technique for him and said he was just really, really too banged
01:41up to be in his late in his career the way it was.
01:44So yeah, I was just, you got to kind of pay attention to those trends of, okay, where
01:51you've played, whether it's Indianapolis or with the Bears, what did the personnel
01:56look like?
01:57And then take that and then now marry that to what you think he's going to do with the
02:01Cowboys.
02:02I think he's got some players that he could marry that scheme to.
02:07I'll be interested to see what he does with Micah Parsons.
02:09That's my biggest...
