EU to begin easing sanctions on Syria

EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas says the bloc’s foreign ministers have agreed to begin easing sanctions on Syria after the ouster of Bashar al-Assad.

00:00Today, we reached the political agreement to begin easing sanctions on Syria.

00:06This could give a boost to Syrian economy and help the country get back on its feet.

00:12While we aim to move fast, we also are ready to reverse the course if the situation worsens.

00:21And in parallel, we will scale up humanitarian aid and recovery efforts.

00:26And ceasefire is fragile, but it's holding.

00:30We are supporting its implementation, including the redeploying our civilian mission to Raqqa

00:36to supervise border checks.

00:39Reopening the crossing will allow the transfer of injured individuals out of Gaza for treatment.
