The Union aviation secretary has called an urgent meeting with airlines over the surge in airfares to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh. As demand skyrockets for flights to the religious event, prices for return tickets are exceeding Rs 50,000 in some cases. Additional flights have been approved but have not met the overwhelming demand. The situation could worsen for the upcoming snan dates.
