00:13For the first time, World Surf League held the 2024 World Junior Championships in the Philippines
00:19held in Urbis Tundu Beach, San Juan, La Union from January 13 to 19, 2025.
00:26Forty-eight of the best young surfers from different countries participated as Filipino athletes
00:32who were given wild card slots.
00:34In the end, Bronson Maydee from Indonesia participated as Men's World Junior Champion
00:40and Luana Silva from Brazil as Women's World Champion.
00:44Aside from spreading the surfing culture,
00:47the competition also benefited the local economy and tourism of La Union.
00:52This continues to prove that La Union is one of the leading destinations for surfing and tourism

01:02It was a fun heat. I went out there in the first couple of waves.
01:05I felt a little bit shaky, maybe a little bit of first heat nerves.
01:07But I was able to do that one big turn on the 7.6 and that gave me a bit of confidence
01:13and from that point I was just able to control the heat.
