00:00Again, the Department of Agriculture assured that the supply of rice in the country is sufficient.

00:04According to the DA, the reason is not a lack of supply.

00:08That's why they will declare a food security emergency.

00:12Assistant Secretary Arnaldo Mesa explained that the spokesperson will do it under the Rice Clarification Law.

00:19There are two grounds to declare a food security emergency.

00:23First is the shortage of supply and second is when there is an extraordinary increase in the price of rice.

00:29First, the agency noticed an extraordinary increase in the price of imported rice for purchase.

00:37That's why P58 per kilo, the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice, is effective.
