Driving lessons are more expensive than ever—how do Birmingham locals feel about the cost? We also explore their memories of learning to drive and passing their test. Do they think the roads are more dangerous now?

00:00So they're very expensive, I think, I don't know, but I think it's about 20 quid for an hour, I think, now.

00:07So it's a lot more expensive. When I learnt it was like 25 years ago, so I would expect it to be more expensive.

00:13I do think roads are more dangerous. I think it's a good idea, perhaps, that they say that younger people,

00:19when they've passed the test, not to carry passengers. I do think that will help.

00:25Us being older drivers, perhaps we need to have another driving test when we're older.

00:30Although we do value our independence driving. Yeah, everything's just a lot faster now.

00:37But the price of driving lessons, I think, have always been quite high.

00:41That's right. I think perhaps, not me, but my children, I know that I taught them to drive mostly,

00:47so we could avoid having driving lessons, and they passed.

00:54So I did an OK job. But yeah, they're horrifically expensive.
