00:00Navotas City hosted the Makulay na Pangisdaan Festival,

00:04which celebrates the rich culture of fishermen in the city.

00:07The details are reported by Janna Pineda of the Philippine Information Agency, National Capital Region.

00:15Navotas City celebrated the 111th anniversary of the establishment of the city

00:20by hosting the Makulay na Pangisdaan Festival,

00:25which celebrates the rich culture of fishermen in Navotas,

00:28which is the primary livelihood of Navotens.

00:32As a token of appreciation for the rich fishery,

00:34more than 500 youths from different public schools in the city

00:39participated in the Pangisdaan Street Dance Competition,

00:42which showcased their representation of the history

00:45of the communities that played an important role in the fishing industry in the country.

00:49Navotas City Mayor John Ray Tiangco

00:52emphasized the importance of youths being united in the continued development of the Navotas culture.

00:59It is very important for us to show through their talents,

01:03our youths, what happened in the past and now,

01:08and what will be our future.

01:12Because our youths, as they grow older,

01:15they should know where their family came from

01:21and the history of their place.

01:25The Pangisdaan Festival is just one of the activities

01:28prepared by the local government of Navotas

01:30to recognize the outstanding contribution of fishermen in the city.

01:34It is not only the outstanding talents of Navotens

01:37that are being showcased here in the Pangisdaan Festival,

01:40but also the colorful culture of Navotas

01:42as the fishing capital of the country.
