00:00The Department of Tourism, on the other hand,

00:02has still managed to increase the number of tourists arriving this year.

00:06This is John Lester Naguna of PIA-NCR with the latest news for the country.

00:13After the country's tourism revenue reached almost Php 760 billion in 2024,

00:18the Department of Tourism has continued to increase the number of tourists arriving in the country,

00:24even though there was a huge reduction in their budget for branding and promotion this year.

00:30In the latest briefing in Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,

00:33Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco said that despite the limited budget,

00:38the agency will continue to implement the Global Campaign of Love the Philippines

00:42that reached the United States, the Middle East, Europe, and other parts of Asia.

00:48Although the target of Php 7.7 million tourist arrival has not yet reached,

00:53the number of tourists arriving in the country also reached Php 5.94 million in 2024.

00:59This is more than 9.15% higher than the Php 5.45 million foreign tourists in 2023.

01:07Frasco said that the reduction in the number of Chinese tourists

01:11and the suspension of electronic visas for the so-called market was reduced to a target.

01:15After 2024,

01:17more than 300,000 Chinese nationals visited the country

01:22compared to 1.74 Chinese national tourists before the pandemic of 2019.

01:27The DOD also showed the growth of tourism in the country.

01:32It surpassed the number before the COVID-19 pandemic.
