Meta Eliminates DEI Initiatives Amid Broader Policy Reversals

Meta announced significant changes to its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs on Friday. Meta’s Vice President of People, Janelle Gale, announced the changes on the company’s Workplace internal forum. It will also disband its DEI team, with Chief Diversity Officer Maxine Williams transitioning to a new role focusing on accessibility and engagement. Meta has implemented sweeping policy reversals, including replacing global affairs head Nick Clegg with Republican-aligned Joel Kaplan and ending its third-party fact-checking program.
