00:10alerts. The yellow weather warning is in force on Thursday and covers the whole of the Liverpool
00:14city region including Liverpool, Wirral, Safton, Knowsley, St Helens and Halton. According
00:20to the weather service, some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey
00:24times by road, bus and train services. Icy patches may cause hazards on untreated roads,
00:30pavements and cycle paths and there may be some injuries from falls on icy surfaces.
00:36Several schools across Merseyside closed their doors on Tuesday and Wednesday due to heavy
00:39snowfall and dangerous icy stretches. Parts of the region including Wirral remain covered
00:44in thick frozen snow which could lead to further closures as the week continues. Liverpool
00:50City Council is urging drivers to take extra precautions this winter as adverse weather
00:55conditions can significantly increase the risk of road traffic collisions.
