00:00In other news, because of diplomatic relations, more than 200 Filipinos who are confined in the UAE will be able to return to the Philippines.

00:10This is after a pardon was made by the previous country.

00:14President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. expressed his gratitude to our countrymen.

00:28220 Filipinos who are confined in the UAE were released after a pardon was made by the UAE.

00:37The pardon was made during the celebration of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates last December.

00:45President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. expressed his gratitude to the President and the Prime Minister of the UAE.

00:53We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum,

01:04whom I also had the honor to meet for this very compassionate gesture.

01:09In total, 143 Filipinos were released after a pardon was made by the UAE.

01:15As a result, there are now 343 Filipinos who have been forgiven and are now completely free.

01:23According to the Department of Foreign Affairs,

01:26the pardon was given in the light of the strong and expanding partnership between the Philippines and the UAE,

01:33which is based on the principle of cooperation and mutual respect.

01:38This is a proof of the promise to promote peace, unity, and giving value to the dignity of the people.

01:46Last November, President Marquez Jr. flew to the UAE to form bilateral agreements with the country.

01:56The Embassy of the Philippines has already issued documents for the Filipinos to return home quickly.

02:04In their return home, their journey to their beloved land of Tinubuan will be safe.
