00:13The Commission on Elections has a warning to those who are planning campaigns
00:18regarding the translation of Jesus Nazareno.
00:20According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia,
00:23those who are planning to run for office should not temporarily postpone the religious occasion for the campaign
00:30even though the campaign season has not yet officially started.
00:33Comelec Commissioner Ernesto Macedo Jr. mentioned that the aspirants may provide assistance
00:40but it should not be used to display political materials such as T-shirts with their faces on them.
00:46The translation, he added, is an occasion for religion and not an opportunity for politics.
00:53Meanwhile, Comelec also announced the dismissal of politicians
00:58who started posting advertisements on billboards, TV and newspapers before the campaign period started.
01:06According to Garcia, even though it is sad,
01:09there is no law that imposes premature campaigning on current election laws.
01:15Politicians are not yet official candidates
01:18until the campaign period starts on February 12 for the national election
01:24and March 28 for the local election.
01:27Everyone is encouraged to show respect and compassion for this occasion
01:33and if possible, to follow the regulations in the upcoming election.
