Snow, ice and rain hit the UK over the weekend, making travel almost impossible at times.   Temperatures dropped as low as -11C in Scotland, while officials issued flood warnings for parts of southern England.   CGTN’s Michael Marillier has more.    #snow #uksnow #uk #europe

00:00It hasn't exactly been a happy new year for travellers here in the UK.

00:06Officials have issued a warning of heavy rain for London.

00:10We've also seen warnings of heavy snow and ice in the northern and central parts of the country.

00:17That's translated into disruptions both on the rail and road networks.

00:23Experts say we could see close to 25 centimetres of snow on some roads in the northern parts of England.

00:33We've also seen some disruptions at airports.

00:36Airports in Liverpool, in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds had to close their runways for limited periods of time.

00:46Most of those have now reopened but we have seen delays there.

00:51We've also seen warnings about potential flooding.

00:55Flood alerts are in place in 100 locations across the UK, many of them in the southern and south-western parts of the country.

01:05And we've seen flood warnings in nearly a dozen places.

01:09That means flooding is expected in those locations.

01:14So, all in all, an anxious, icy and wet start to 2025.
