00:00More than 600 road traffic incidents have been reported by the Department of Health.

00:05The Department of Education and the Department of Science and Technology

00:11helped to curb the speed and innovation in the country.

00:15This is the latest from the center of the news, Kate Remya.

00:21More than 638 cases of road accidents have been reported in the country.

00:28The estimated dates are from December 22, 2024 to January 4, 2025,

00:35where seven were reported as road accidents and four were road accidents due to motorcycle accidents.

00:42Meanwhile, 553 were individual accidents because they did not use safety gear such as helmets,

00:49while 117 of them were drunk, and 452 were related to motorcycle accidents.

00:58In the past 2024, the LTO caught more than 600,000 motorists due to violations of the Traffic Law.

01:07This is more than 20.75% compared to the year 2023.

01:12This increase is due to tighter strategies in implementing the law,

01:17as well as the higher visibility of LTO officers working for the PNP and local governments.

01:25The LTO Calaborzon Region has the highest number of arrested drivers, reaching more than 100,000.

01:32More than 20,000 vehicles were impounded in 2024.

01:38This is a 21.93% increase compared to the year 2023.

01:43LTO officials are committed to continuing the vigorous operations

01:48to ensure the safety of the road for all.

01:52The Department of Education, or DEPED, and the Department of Science and Technology, or DOST,

01:58are joining forces to look after science and innovation in the country.

02:02Education Secretary Sunny Angara and DOST Secretary Renato Solidong Jr.

02:08mentioned the importance of education in the development of future scientists and innovators.

02:13They also gave the role of specialized schools such as the Philippine Science High School

02:19in taking care of talents in the field.

02:22The two leaders are committed to expanding efforts to strengthen innovation across the country.
