Japan Eyes Nuclear Power To Achieve Energy Goals

Japan's government panel has largely backed a draft energy policy to bolster renewables and nuclear by 2040. It also calls for restarting reactors, meeting updated safety standards, and developing next-generation reactors. Experts doubt Japan can achieve its nuclear energy target with less than half of the reactors currently operational and slow safety checks.
