00:00The Bureau of Fire Protection and other government agencies are now monitoring the campaign against the fire.

00:06According to the DILG, they have already dispatched 78,000 police and firefighters

00:12to ensure the safety of the people in this new year.

00:16This is what Isaiah Mirafentes has to say.

00:20Ruena has six children and her family is one of the informal settlers in Santa Ana, Manila.

00:27Their house is also made of light materials so that the fire can quickly spread.

00:32Their house has already been affected by the fire so they don't want it to happen again.

00:37She knows that one of the possible causes of the fire is the explosion in this new year celebration.

00:44It's scary because if you spread the trash, there's a possibility that it will cause a fire.

00:51Especially if you throw it in a part of the house where there's still wood and the trash is still there.

00:56It's really dangerous. It can cause a fire in the house.

01:00That's what we're afraid of.

01:02But aside from the explosion, Santa Ana, Manila also has another problem.

01:06The spaghetti wires are also one of the possible causes of the fire.

01:10That's why this holiday season, the Department of Interior and Local Government, or DILG,

01:16has dispatched 78,000 police and firefighters from all over the country.

01:20They are the personnel who will guard the safety of our countrymen and the safety of the new year celebration.

01:2840,000 are expected to come from the PNP and 38,000 from the BFP.

01:35It's good news because the fire is less in December 2024 compared to December 2023.

01:44According to the Bureau of Fire Protection,

01:46724 fire incidents were reported from December 1 to December 24 of this year.

01:54This is lower than the 1,112 that were reported in December of last year.

02:00But 15 fire incidents were reported this year because of the explosion.

02:06DILG promised that they will continue their efforts for a safer country.

02:11Meanwhile, according to PNP Spokesperson and Information Chief Brig. Gen. Gene Fajardo,

02:17there were no night-alarm-toward incidents last Christmas Eve.

02:21The Bureau of Fire Protection has a red-alert status until January 2.

02:26This means that all BFP personnel are on-call to respond if necessary.

02:32The Bureau of Fire Protection is really focused on spreading fire safety awareness

02:38and to promote fire prevention rather than response or suppression.

02:43The BFP is also asking the local governments to implement a total ban on fire.

02:49BFP Makati is one of the cities with the lowest number of fire incidents in the NCR.

02:54It is believed that there is a huge information drive on the fire incident.
