00:00On the 11th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me the year's greatest show on TV.

00:05Now, I watch a lot of TV shows. I watch so much. Probably more than is considered normal.

00:11For me, this year had a runaway victor, and that is The Penguin.

00:21The world ain't set up for the honest man to succeed.

00:25That should be the American dream right there.

00:26You know, a beautiful story with a happy ending. But that ain't the way the world works.

00:35America's a hustle.

00:38Yes, The Penguin, which is about the character from The Batman, which is the film starring

00:44Robert Pattinson, directed by Matt Reeves, that came out a few years ago.

00:47It's a spinoff starring the Colin Farrell character who was in that film. You wouldn't

00:51know it's Colin Farrell to look at him. He is wearing a lot of prosthetic, a lot of makeup.

00:55He really transforms into the role of Oz Cop, also known as The Penguin.

00:59But for me, what separates this show from being just another spinoff that a lot of people

01:03probably went, nah, can't be bothered with that. It's just like extending a life of something

01:07that's, you know, I'll watch something original. What sets it apart is the TLC that's been put

01:13into everything. I mean, the cinematography, the direction, the music. This show has killer

01:20soundtrack and the actors. Now, Farrell is fantastic. Career best, perhaps. But Kristen

01:26Melotti, who plays Sophia Falcone, is, you know when you watch one of those performances and you

01:31think, that's going to win awards next year? Within one scene, I was convinced. The odds

01:36must be rubbish. She is so good in this show that she is going to win awards. The show is

01:41eight episodes long, so it doesn't really take you a lot of time to tear through it. But hey,

01:45you'll be wanting there to be another eight. Like, it's really that good. I think I underestimated

01:49The Penguin. I think the world did. It's also one of the shows that each episode built a viewer

01:55show. More people watched each episode as it went on. That doesn't happen. Usually things drop by

02:00millions. That's testament to how good it is and about how word of mouth has worked for this show.

02:04But word of mouth won't work unless the show is actually good. The Penguin is more than good.

02:09It's a classic. If you've been meaning to get around to Penguin, you think you'll do it one

02:12day soon, treat yourself this Christmas and watch The Penguin. It's the best show of the year and

02:17you can watch it on now. It's there for you to watch. Why wouldn't you?
