Japanese company iSpace's Hakuto-R lander captured amazing views of the the Earth during a solar eclipse and more during its journey to a moon landing attempt.   Credit: iSpace

00:00This first image, Hakamada-san, look at it, it's just beautiful.

00:04Yeah, beautiful and very incredible pictures taken from our land.

00:11It is truly amazing how a privately funded spacecraft can capture the moon and the earth like this and send the image back.

00:21Now, Hitachi-san, looking at this, I think this image also contains some scientific, very, very interesting speciality.

00:29Can you explain it a bit more?

00:31Oh, yes, yeah. So this is the picture of the Earth's light on the moon.

00:37But most interestingly, you know, as you can see, if you can take a very close look at the Earth,

00:42so we see actually the shadow of the moon on the Earth.

00:46So you see that black spot there, close to the austral area.

00:51So this is actually the shadow of the moon.

00:53So we took this picture during the solar eclipse.

00:57So it's really interesting to see this kind of phenomena, not from the Earth, but from the lunar orbit.

01:05So this is very interesting and very exciting picture.

01:55So it's really great.

01:56It's really amazing to see this shadow and the bright part and the shadow part of the moon,

02:03because there is no atmosphere on the moon, so we can clearly see the lunar surface.
