U.S. drops $10 million bounty for arrest of new Syrian leader

00:00The United States has scrapped a $10 million reward for the arrest of Syria's de facto new ruler, Ahmed al-Sharar.

00:08It follows what senior U.S. diplomats called a very productive talks with leaders of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham,

00:14the group that ousted the Assad government.

00:17Washington has designated the HTS as a terrorist organization six years ago,

00:21but the head of the U.S. delegation said it decided to remove the bounty

00:25after receiving positive messages during that first meeting.
