Portuguese wine with a Cantonese accent

When a family from Macao fell in love with Portugal, they bought a winery – and the locals love working for them. CGTN’s Ken Browne reports.

00:00When Uluzuwe and his wife Leotsoping visited Portugal in 2013, they fell in love, buying the Quinta de Marmalera estate.

00:09They were living the dream, making wine to sell in Macau and beyond, but in January 2024, tragedy struck when Uluzuwe passed away unexpectedly.

00:20Now, Leotsoping, her daughter Carmen and their new family in Portugal, their staff, work to keep his legacy alive.

00:28Like Adriano Barrias, who grew up in Macau and speaks fluent Cantonese.

00:34We speak Cantonese here.

00:41Nice place, with nice wine, with great people. I think every worker here feels part of the family.
