RBTU Secretary responds to NSW Police threats to shut down fireworks celebrations on NYE

00:00This morning, we saw state politics hit a brand new low.

00:09The police commissioner came out and announced that if our action took place, there would

00:13be no fireworks on New Year's Eve.

00:16This government has completely lost its way.

00:19We now know it is not functioning the way it should function.

00:23Instead of attempting to resolve the dispute, the government is resorting to hysteria and

00:29has resorted to scaring the public of New South Wales, rather than sitting down with

00:34unions like our union, the rail union, the other combined rail unions, or the nurses

00:39for that matter to resolve the dispute.

00:42It has gotten so bad that the government has resorted to having honest, hard-working public

00:50servants come out and tell fibs about the effect of our action, an action which would

00:56at the most have minimal impact, not something that the government is claiming will absolutely

01:02destroy New Year's Eve for the people of New South Wales.
