Queensland boy breaks Guinness World Record for jumping on pogo stick

An energetic boy has just bounced his way into the record books. The 12-year-old from Gympie, North of Brisbane, managed nearly 200 jumps in one minute on a pogo stick, and he’s not done yet.

00:00Lachlan Rakovalos has boundless energy.

00:06The 12-year-old found a way to channel it when he discovered a pogo stick 6 years ago.

00:15It's a hobby that's led to a mission to become the world's best junior jumper.

00:20As soon as I went on it I was instantly good and I know that's not very humble but still.

00:25And he also loves the Guinness World Record books and he's got several copies of them

00:29on his bookshelf.

00:31It wasn't an easy feat for him or his mum.

00:34They don't just hand out records, there's a process.

00:37So we needed two timekeepers, we needed two independent witnesses, we needed somebody

00:42to do a slow-mo video, somebody to do a normal video, somebody to do photographs.

00:47So there were seven adults required.

00:50After months of preparation, the big day came.

00:53I think the previous record was 172, I beat it by 15, so my record was 187.

01:03Yeah, it was tiring.

01:07He's recognised on the official website and has the certificate to prove it, along with

01:13bragging rights among his siblings and friends.

01:16Lachlan is autistic, so he has a few superpowers, including incredible focus and determination.

01:22He just will not let go, he will keep going until he's achieved things and it's something

01:27that he should be really proud of himself.

01:29Lachlan is still deciding whether to go for the 30-second world record, he may even try

01:35to beat the adult record one day.

01:37But one thing's for certain, he now knows he can do anything he puts his mind to.
