00:00Thanks guys. Thank you. As you can see, the love is very real. You know, I didn't want
00:11to play this character. I went to Ajay sir after reading the entire script. I said script
00:16is very fun but I want to play the other girl because I think I resonate more with her as
00:24a person. And Tejkaran sir and Ajay sir, both of them said, which is the reason why you
00:31should be playing Chandni because you will have to work harder. And of course, she was
00:37a bit of a fun challenge to play. So yeah, I was nervous and excited both.
00:42Look, I always believe that you don't choose a character, it's the story that chooses you.
00:54So with this particular, I was, you know, the sale, she was already gone and I was running
01:00behind it. I mean, the latest casting is mine, it came one or two days before. But when I
01:05read this script, I realized that thing that, you know, I said it earlier also but the thing
01:09is that with comedy, what I really feel, with quirk, what I really feel that the more
01:14difficulty is there with the objective of the characters, the more possibility is there
01:18to, you know, enjoy or perform. So with the vast characters I have seen, I have seen everybody
01:25has different kind of difficulties and that difficulty is creating such a situation where
01:30you can enjoy yourself.
01:32So with Moonwalk and the kind of subject it was, it's a unique subject which you generally
01:36don't get to read around you. So for the first time, it was very important to believe that
01:40whether you can do it or not. But really, enduring that, once you get into the script
01:46and when the plot gets set for each episode, then you are into it. So yes, definitely.
01:52And the concept of heist and the question you asked, as I said, the difficulties will be
01:58with each character, all the characters in this, there is a different difficulty with
02:02them, with their objectives. And they create a great situation where there are a lot of
02:06possibilities to enjoy. Not just for us, definitely it will be for the audience.
02:15Yeah, when I heard of Moonwalk for the first time from Ajay Bhuyan, he had called me,
02:20so I thought it's a film about dance. I thought that you are using Moonwalk and that's Michael
02:25Jackson's Moonwalk. So I had no idea what the script was. So I met him in the office
02:29and then I saw him sitting back on the chair and saying that I am trying to make something
02:33very interesting, very trippy. Or trying to create a world of my own where, can you imagine
02:39a story that has a moon rock in it? I'm like, so it's sci-fi. He said, no, no, no.
02:43But it's also got like thieves in it who are doing a heist. I said, okay, thieves and moon rock.
02:48Then it's also got a challenge of thieves who want to win over a girl. I said, okay.
02:52And then he said the girl also cannot decide and choose and she wants to decide between
02:56two guys and she wants both men. So I said, my God, this is mad. So I got very intrigued
03:01by the overall plot. I thought this is something that will be fun. And then when he started
03:06speaking about my character, he said, yeah, listen, Sam, I don't want you to be playing
03:09what you've been doing earlier. I want to give you a different look in it. I want to have
03:12a different feel for you. I want to make your character as mad as possible.
03:16Then when he started telling me about my character, Maddy Sharma and the experiences
03:20he goes through and the kind of heist artist he thinks that he is and who does the jobs
03:25and how his heart is actually very fragile in life and how he falls in love or pretends
03:32to fall in love, then falls in love. And he moves through a course of a journey with all
03:36these wonderful characters that each episode has something new coming your way.
03:41The whole competition starts off over love. It goes into, there are commodes in this story.
03:47There are, there are necklaces in this story. There is a moon rock in this story.
03:51There's just every layer of madness that comes in. So I really had a good time.
03:55If you're asking that, what was my first reaction when I saw it, I was like, this is very interesting.
04:00It's very trippy. Aisi film mein maine bahut khud dekhi hain. Or I've not had a chance
04:04to act in movies or web series like this. So when I heard it from him saying that his
04:08intentions were to make something very different, very unique and something which is not,
04:13not, not a very straight line kind of a show. Hala ke plot bada straight line hai.
04:17Wo uski yehi koshish thi Ajay ki, kaha mein left lekar jaao, kaha mein right lekar jaao,
04:22kaise iss kahaani ko mein aur matlab ek naya flavour doon, which is very intriguing to know.
04:26So I think that was my first reaction to it.
04:33No, I didn't take inspiration from anybody because Tariq has a different, it is, you know,
04:39it is that kind of, kind of character where you see every day, in every day to day life
04:43that, that is a person there. But when you go inside the person, he has some uniqueness,
04:47some quirk, which is very unique with that thing. Like he is a typical chaur, jo aap
04:53bolte hain ki raah chalta chaur, aap dekh sakto hai, waisa hai. But he has a different,
04:57you know, psychic in that thing that he wants to leave a signature mark with that thing.
05:01Yes, I did that thing. People has to know that I am that thief. So he is very clear
05:06with the idea what he wants to achieve in life. He is that kind of character who doesn't
05:10think too much. Every difficulty is fun for him. Every difficulty, until it is not there,
05:15he is not enjoying life. So he can escape from any, any sort of, you know, situation
05:20and all. I am not particularly like that. I have never seen a person who doesn't think
05:24that way. But yes, somehow there is relativity also. And when you get into the story, you
05:30see a cast like that, you understand by their eyes only, you understand what kind of person
05:36they are looking. So somehow I achieved that thing by, you know, getting into it. And
05:40slowly, slowly, I understood that what he really wants to be or achieve.
05:50I didn't try to make him likeable at all. I tried to portray him the way he was. And
05:55I was told that he is a very highly competitive con artist who will go to any lengths to win.
06:02And he does not like losing. He has very high regards of his own abilities as a thief.
06:07So when he is put in front of a competition, taking on Tariq's character, saying that
06:13it's either you or me, it will bring out a side of him that he will do whatever it
06:18takes that he has to win the competition. So I didn't have any quirks about making
06:23him likeable or nice. I played him like the way he is. There's also an angle of his
06:29home front, which is his mother. So he's basically got a lot of mommy issues in life too.
06:35My mother's played by Sheeba Chadha and we've had some great scenes together to show
06:40the side of his vulnerability as well as somebody away from just being this con artist.
06:44So yeah, we played it the way it was. We tried to add a lot of layers to the characters.
06:49We tried to do a lot of fun stuff in the scenes to make it look like he can be this devious.
06:55He can also be vulnerable. He's also somebody who might not be wanting to find love
07:02but that also happens along the way. So I guess it was a mixture of all these things.
07:06We had a good time doing it. I think a lot of credit to Ajay for our director that is
07:10to give us the right path, the right confidence and bring about a whole sense of camaraderie
07:15in the team. And he's a really wonderful actor to work with. So when you work with them,
07:19with both of them, with everybody else in the show as well, they all were in the same
07:24zone that we have to do something in the scene that takes it away. So in our competition
07:28scenes between me and Anshuman, we've kind of ad-libbed a lot of stuff.
07:34Like when we were fighting there, he said, you guys bicker now.
07:37So we said, you guys get on top of each other. Now what we were saying to each other
07:41was on the spot. He was saying something. I was saying something in French.
07:45He was saying something. A little bit of abuse came out of his mouth.
07:47A little bit of abuse came out of my mouth in English. So it was a lot of stuff that
07:50we were tripping on and we used to laugh once the director said cut.
07:52We would laugh after that thinking, what did we say?
07:55Then we look back in the monitor and say, this is looking interesting because
07:58we saw the crew laughing then. Similarly with Nidhi as well, it was the most bizarre romance
08:05because we were saying stuff to each other and we were both pretending and acting
08:09and we know it but yet we were saying it to each other.
08:12So I had a really good time playing Maddy.
08:25Chandani is out and out a thrill seeker and playing her in a way was,
08:31obviously initially it was not my job to judge the character that I'm playing.
08:35It is my job to understand the character and play it with full conviction.
08:39But I had a hard time sinking my teeth into this one because there were some things
08:44that she would do and say and I would be like, that's a little much.
08:48And I had my days but once I would anchor myself in it, it was very freeing.
08:59When I see it from the point of view of Chandani, they are not actually that different.
09:04They are in a similar kind of profession which is very exciting for Chandani.
09:10She likes the fact that a guy would do a dangerous thing for her.
09:14And her trip in life is, who will be the one taking the biggest risk for me?
09:20That is the one I'm going to trust and that's the one I'm going to be with.
09:23So she has massive trust issues and instead of them realising that she has problems,
09:28they are caught up in her drama. That is just basically that.
