A stone tablet was discovered in the country of Georgia’s Bashplemi Lake in 2021. Since then it has baffled archeologists as they have no idea what is written on it.

00:10It was found in 2021, though experts say it was likely crafted in the Bronze Age.

00:15However, the tablet is baffling archaeologists, as they have been unable to identify the mysterious

00:20symbols which are written on it.

00:22They say they have now confirmed that this is the first example of this script ever found,

00:26with the find containing 39 distinct unknown characters.

00:30And because we have no idea what the script is, obviously experts have no idea what any

00:34of it means either.

00:35It likely dates back over 5,500 years, meaning there's a good chance we never will as well.

00:42Archaeologists say that the area was once a melting pot for different cultures at the

00:45time, with artifacts written in Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Middle Persian all having been

00:49found there.

00:50In fact, they say the symbols on this undeciphered stone tablet seem to have multiple influences,

00:55with researchers outlining that the symbols are similar to Middle Eastern writings, with

00:59the seals also having a lot in common with early Bronze and early Iron Age Georgia.
