00:00Thank you all for coming today. The weather's done us a favour today, so hopefully it won't

00:07start raining while I'm speaking and I'm not going to speak for long, but it's a real pleasure

00:10to be here and share this celebration today. Delighted to be here with CAF as the new MP

00:17for the area, but I wanted to just say thank you to both Jessica Cuthbert and Pam Kelly

00:23for what they have done in the past, and obviously Jane in role already, to welcome

00:28Mark for the new community festival. I read all about it in the Western Mail this morning,

00:32so it was a good day to come here. I am really looking forward to working with Mark. All

00:38of our communities across the West, and I know they're going to do a brilliant job and

00:42have a brilliant term with PG, all of us wishing you the very best of luck. But thank you also

00:48to those of you that have built this new station. I know from the council, from the

00:53construction partners, from the project manager that I've just been talking to, Jackie, it

00:58looks really, really good. I'm really looking forward to seeing the inside of it. And this

01:03is a visible and tangible demonstration of what we as a UK government want to have as

01:09one of our key missions. You know that when we went into the election we had a promised

01:14mission-led government, one of which is to save the streets, and this is a visible, tangible

01:19demonstration of that, because we want to both increase public safety and restore confidence

01:25in policing and the criminal justice systems, and Mark made reference to that. We know we've

01:30got lots of work to do, but that recruitment of 13,000 officers, PCSOs and the special

01:37constables will help deliver that. And I know that all of us want that to succeed. Aberdeen

01:43is a beautiful town, but obviously it has challenges like any town right across the

01:48country, but this station and everybody who works in it will play their role in delivering

01:53the Safer Streets mission that is so important to us all. So thank you again for inviting

01:58me. I wish everybody who works in this building and out of this building in the future the

02:04very best of luck. I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job. And I hope you will now too, doing the

02:10opening ceremony. Thank you.
