West Indies women lost to India BY 49 RUNS in the first T20 International in Mumbai today. Sent in to bat India posted a massive 195 for four from their 20 overs. In reply, a half century from Deandra Dottin was not enough to see the visitors to victory as they were restricted to 146 for seven.

00:00West Indies women won the toss and opted to bowl first. Smriti Mandana and Uma
00:05Chetri seemed to be glad they took that option. They enjoyed playing shots for
00:12their home fans.
00:20They reached 50 before Chetri was bowled by a flighted delivery from Karishma
00:25Ramharak for 24. Mandana went on to get her half century as the Windies
00:29bowling looked wayward and out of sorts. Haley Matthews went wicketless for three
00:34overs for 38 runs. Mandana gave her wicket away trying to smash Ramharak.
00:43She made 54. Jemima Rodrigues was the top scorer for the Indians with 73
00:52before she was run out. She hit some lusty blows as they got to 195 for four
00:57from their 20 overs. In reply the West Indies lost Haley Matthews early.
01:10However Kiana Joseph and Deandra Dutton kept the Windies women in the
01:14match. Joseph had a strong power handle.
01:30On 49 Joseph gave it away. Windies slipping to 80 for 3 and Dutton
01:40was prepared to show that she may be even stronger. When Dutton fell with the
01:48score on 126 for a top score of 52 from 28 balls India were well and truly on
01:54the brink of winning the contest. Shibika Gajnabi finished not out on 15
02:00as the Windies reached 146 for 7 from their 20 overs. India winning the first
02:06T20 by 49 runs.
