00:44It's been a while since we've been here, so.
00:47Yeah, me too.
00:49It's been about a year break where I just wasn't here on Tuesday night.
00:53I wasn't on Tuesday nights.
00:57I ran across Dewey.
01:01They said they were starting, making an effort to start this up again.
01:13Yeah.
01:25Yeah.
01:50I don't know.
01:57I talked to some of the guys today, and they said they could start around 6.30, so we thought
02:01we'd be here by 6.30.
02:04I get here 7 or 7.15 usually, and it's going, you know, and the answer usually is, oh, it's
02:136.30 or 7 or, you know.
02:25That doesn't sound right.
02:40Good job.
02:44They're twins.
02:45Are they just alike?
02:48I thought I was seeing things.
02:48Same guy, man.
02:50Ivy Claire?
02:51You're possibly going to do that.
02:53Yep, that's it.
02:55They made us an experiment to find out how you've been.
02:58Very good.
02:58I'm glad to see you.
03:10Whenever I can, I play it open, because I like that Richard Sinner.
03:14That's just what I'm going to do with an extra intro to do.
03:17So, I got together with Tobin and Chris Durkin, who makes guitars, and a few others who's out in Sparta.
03:24And he was all excited about it, because he wanted to take the banjo apart and see how they were
03:30made.
03:35And we took another long neck of mine, took it apart and measured it in about 17 different ways.
03:50And we took 18 months to build these two, and they were intentionally absolutely identical.
03:57All the hardware, everything that's on it, is the same, except for the size of the product.
04:04So, you mind doing a brass?
04:07Yeah, actually, I played that.
04:10Oh, this is?
04:11Yeah.
04:12I was out there all the time.
04:13I had Chris pretty mad at me out there, because we got caught heading back to the boat.
04:17We were in action, heading back to the boat.
04:19We did skiff, caught in a rainstorm.
04:23It's just so great to do the case.
04:25The banjo was wet.
04:27The next morning, you could look down the neck and see the spring.
04:32Oh, man.
04:33The spring, that's all I could get out of it.
04:35I brought it to Chris.
04:37He was best.
04:39I can't get up.
04:40Yeah, he was pretty vocal about kids, how they play a guitar in their 20s.
04:46I got back, he said, there's finger marks all over the head.
04:48I was like, well, I don't know.
04:50No, no, that's DNA.
04:52You're personalizing it.
04:53That's right.
04:53I think that's right, you know.
04:55Yeah, it's like a, you know, a chip on a dog, I could do.
05:02Hi, baby.
05:04Hi, baby.
05:06I'm all right.
05:06Yeah, y'all.
05:07Hey.
05:08Hello.
05:08I'm a man.
05:09Let's go over here.
05:10That's good.
05:15How's baby?
05:17All right, you?
05:18Hello there.
05:19Hello there.
05:27That was the case that I bought to replace my Sega, a Vega case for my Sega, and it was
05:39just,
05:40no, no, no, the hard one.
05:41And it finally had been rebuilt so many times, it finally just cut apart.
05:46So I went to Elderly Instruments in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
05:51They think they have everything.
05:53He said, so, you have a hard shell case for a Vega banter?
05:57Yep, we do.
05:58And I took it out, and the guy put it in, closed the lid, said, there you go.
06:01And I said, fine, here's my car.
06:04You know, it's mine.
06:05I didn't pay close enough attention to him putting that in the case.
06:08And he damn near ironed it, because when I went to put it in, it did not fit.
06:14And so I wound up pulling out a lot of the blocks in the middle and cutting it down.
06:20It had the neck on an angle, so you were hitting it.
06:24You were picking the whole banjo up, taking the lid down.
06:27And I couldn't get the Vega, it wouldn't go in.
06:31And I had to peel back the foam, or the cloth, and I was slicing foam in the trunk, pushing
06:37it out.
06:38It looks in your friend, isn't it?
06:40I was like, I didn't have to, you know, pull to get it in there, but once it's in there,
06:44it's not moving.
06:45I would set it down and then push like hell and put it down.
06:49But I only put the Vega in there.
06:51And the other thing was, the headstock was about a half inch too long.
06:55It would fit gently in there.
06:58We fixed that.
07:01With that, we intentionally made that just when we cloned the head off the Vega.
07:08We made it a little bit shorter, so it would fit in as pretty.
07:12All right, she'll pay us.
07:14It is.
07:15You're welcome.
07:16All right.
07:17Hey, you're welcome.
07:18Yeah, just a very little bit.
07:21But it's really heavy.
07:23And I wasn't doing, you know, really heavy travel.
07:26So the only time it went in that case was when I was expecting someone to throw it in the
07:33bag or something like that.
07:35Otherwise, you know, inside the gate bags.
07:41I meant to bring that gate bag, wouldn't it?
07:44Do you want a bag?
07:45I don't know.
07:46I suppose on the ship, the hard, you're better off with it in a hard shell case, really.
07:51But it's not even so much on the boat as it is.
07:54But you're at home or, you know, go on someplace where you don't need the armor protection.
07:59I think the gate bags are much easier.
08:04Just make sure you give Betty Bornbrock credit for it.
08:08Oh, wait.
08:09You have the Colorado case?
08:10Blue is not coming?
08:11No, I do have the.
08:12Blue is not coming?
08:13Yeah, blue is not coming.
08:14It's got the Celtic designs on.
08:15You won't be here for the back.
08:16Yeah, it is the Colorado.
08:17It's blue.
08:17That's the Colorado case.
08:18I'm going to be a shark for you if I can get you in the market right now.
08:22Right.
08:23That's good case.
08:25Good luck on that one.
08:26That's a good deal more than Betty's.
08:28I don't know.
08:29Yeah, I like Betty's.
08:30It did fit.
08:31It did fit.
08:33No, thank you.
08:35Yeah.
08:36Who makes yours?
08:37Chris Durgan and I made these.
08:39He was out in Sparta.
08:40Oh, okay.
08:43And later on, it's a special treat.
08:46I would be able to get this off.
08:49I would like to.
08:54Who did you, Ted, there?
08:56What's that?
08:58That was nice.
09:00How are you?
09:02How are you?
09:02You can't do it.
09:03I'm trying to do it.
09:05Check out that manager.
09:08It's heard.
09:09It's got five miles and a lot of the miles on it.
09:12Okay.
09:14I can't do that.
09:19I'll probably leave back.
09:20Yeah.
09:21That's how long is it?
09:22About nine.
09:23About nine.
09:41Yes, it did. I wasn't familiar with a small one.
09:46You okay? Yeah.
09:55How long does it take you to make work?
09:57Well, it took us 18 months, but we worked together only one day a week.
10:01I was taking off Wednesday afternoons going out to the shop.
10:05He would work with some things in between, obviously.
10:07And also because of the incredible perfectionism builds the beautiful, very expensive furniture.
10:21So, there were many things you wouldn't let me judge.
10:28I love the crazy living room.
10:31Unfinished drywall, no flooring, and then this gorgeous armoire that he had built.
10:38Yeah, he has miscellaneous pieces of that furniture that he built or a king bag or something.
10:44And you go in there, and you look at this.
10:48I've had cards that didn't cost a lot what he gets for this table.
10:52Wow!
10:55He bought a, shall we say, a fixer-up of a house.
10:59And he fixed the things that were important to do.
11:01He steps in his workshop in the basement.
11:04And a few other options.
11:07And then, otherwise, insulation ripped out, no ceiling.
11:10You can see through the floor and places.
11:12And he said, ah, I'm not going anywhere.
11:15You're not going anywhere.
11:17You're not going anywhere.
11:22You're not going anywhere.
11:22We're going to take some of our piece to piece of them off in some adventure.
11:25The, uh, looking when we go.
11:27Is there a going to college?
11:29And currently walking in the boat yard as a bright-working man.
11:32Smart.
11:33Awesome.
11:34Do it?
11:35Doing bright work?
11:37Yeah.
11:37Do it.
11:37It looks not right.

26:22I've been employed all three months.
26:30Are you ready, Newark?
26:33We want to play.
26:37Play a little fly around.
