Hello, no Storm Dara this weekend, but there's still plenty going on, always something to
00:06
talk about.
00:07
And it'll be a weekend of contrasts when many places across the south in particular finally
00:12
see a bit of sunshine.
00:13
High pressure to the west, high pressure to the east, low to the north, low to the south.
00:17
And it's this weather front which is sweeping away the cloud, or trying to at least as we
00:23
go through the night.
00:24
As we see the clearest skies across Scotland and Northern Ireland, it will turn a bit chilly.
00:28
The weather front itself has a little bit of rain on it, but nothing too heavy.
00:32
Staying quite murky and misty across the south, poor visibility on some of the higher routes.
00:37
But the cloud will keep the temperatures up across England and Wales once more.
00:41
So we're above freezing here.
00:43
Some pockets of frost likely over Northern England and certainly in eastern Scotland
00:47
through some sheltered parts we could dip down in the countryside to minus two, minus
00:52
three Celsius.
00:53
Some showers coming in across the far north of Scotland, quite a blustery, gusty starts
00:57
to the day across western Scotland with some showers feeding in here and down through the
01:01
Irish Sea.
01:02
So the odd shower getting into north and west Wales.
01:05
A grey start for east Anglia and southern England, so you may have to wait a few hours
01:10
before finally the skies turn a little bluer after what's been a very grey week.
01:15
We should see some decent spells of sunshine over the Midlands, eastern and southern England
01:18
by the afternoon.
01:20
Same goes for south Wales.
01:21
The showers in north Wales tending to fade, but the cloud thickening once more in the
01:26
north west.
01:27
Another weather front bringing in cloud and rain to western Scotland and the west of Northern
01:31
Ireland by the end of the afternoon.
01:33
The winds picking up once more here too.
01:35
Temperature wise tomorrow, well, six, seven, eight Celsius, generally in the south a touch
01:39
below average.
01:40
But because it's been so drab, I suspect a little bit of sunshine will make it feel a
01:45
bit warmer than recent days.
01:48
The winds, though, are going to strengthen further and that patchy rain will push southwards
01:52
during Saturday evening.
01:53
So turning a bit damp over southern Scotland, then northern England, and then we're into
01:58
much more cloud spilling back in across the country.
02:01
Some clearer skies across east Anglia in the southeast lasting well into the night will
02:04
allow those temperatures to drop down into single figures, well into single figures.
02:09
Whereas further west what we'll actually see through Saturday night is temperatures starting
02:13
to rise.
02:14
So by the time we get to Sunday, temperatures higher than they have been through most of
02:18
Saturday.
02:19
Some places starting Sunday in double digits.
02:22
That's because that's a thickening cloud and the rain is coming in from a warm front
02:25
and tucked in here, that's called a warm sector.
02:29
So milder air is pushing in as this front moves through.
02:33
So it is going to turn milder during Sunday, but those weather fronts also likely to bring
02:38
quite a lot of cloud.
02:40
Rain at times, chiefly over hills and coasts in the west.
02:43
Many eastern areas will stay dry.
02:45
It may brighten up at times, but generally we are back to those grey skies.
02:50
It will be a lot milder, however.
02:53
Temperatures in double figures across the board, 11 or 12 degrees Celsius.
02:56
But it's also going to turn windy on Sunday.
02:59
Some lively gusts of wind, especially over and to the east of the Pennines, but also
03:04
in the northwest of Scotland where the rain will keep on coming through Sunday night and
03:09
into Monday.
03:10
This is something we need to keep a watch on because we're setting up what's called
03:13
a warm conveyor belt and that moisture in here through Sunday lasting into Monday could
03:20
actually drop quite a lot of rain as we go through Sunday night, Monday and even into
03:23
Tuesday as these weather fronts just wiggle around.
03:25
Depends on the exact location of those weather fronts, but it could be a very wet 48 hours
03:31
in northwest Scotland.
03:32
So we do have a Met Office yellow warning in place from Sunday into Tuesday.
