00:00Shining examples of a golden age in China, some of the most important treasures of the Tang Dynasty,
00:08are part of a newly opened exhibition in Paris.
00:11Hundreds of works are on display from more than 30 Chinese cultural institutions.
00:16This exhibition is the first in France to be really highlighting a dynasty of 300 years old,
00:22and the interest of it is that we can bring together more than around 207 objects,
00:28which come from 10 different provinces,
00:31and to bring new highlights about how the Tang Dynasty worked,
00:35progressed in time, and discuss about different kinds of artistic materials.
00:40There was an explosion of artistic outputs in the Tang period,
00:44which ruled in China from the year 618 to the year 907 Common Era.
00:49Sculpture, painting, pottery and poetry all flourished during the dynasty.
00:54The works here also evoke the culture of tea, the splendor of banquets, entertainment and women's fashion.
01:01Now we're really looking at everyday life in a Tang capital,
01:06which is in fact the biggest city in the world at this time.
01:09So we talk about people, we talk about calligraphy, poetry, painting, dressing, different costumes, vessels,
01:18and this gives us an idea of what it is to live within this China in full transition,
01:25in the preparation of what we call modern time China.
01:28The French and Chinese presidents wrote prefaces to the exhibition,
01:32highlighting the importance of bilateral cultural exchanges,
01:35with further joint exhibitions planned for next year.
01:39France and China don't always see eye to eye on politics and trade,
01:43but the two countries have deepened their cultural ties.
01:46during this anniversary year.
