Gobowen Residents Are Desperate For Help Regarding Continued Flooding

00:00Our little group here is representing Bowen WI and supporting all the people in the village

00:07directly who have been severely affected, particularly the hairdresser and the cafe

00:12which is very well used, and the pub.

00:16It's becoming that we're all aware of what is happening and what the reasons are, but

00:20it doesn't seem that the solution has been found and the work has been done to prevent

00:26it.

00:27The last two times, one of our members who lives in the house above the other side of

00:32the station literally could not get home.

00:36She was flooded, she works in Ellesmere, she couldn't get back to here to get home.

00:41But all of us are finding it very difficult in the clear up for people and the signs that

00:48go up to say the road is shut go a bit late.

00:53The people in the pub, Donna, has been so supportive, so helpful and has got permission

00:58to be able to close the area quickly because once it starts it rushes all the way down,

01:05all the way past the house there and then turns right and then gushes down.

01:10It affects all the businesses here.

01:13It affects the transport and the travel from Shrewsbury and Wrexham.

01:21The station is closed.

01:22It's like a canal.

01:23It's a canal you've just got in and it's becoming very, very difficult for people's

01:28ordinary everyday business life and home life to deal with it.

01:33It's been severely affected twice in the last month.

01:38I've lived in the village over 40 years, they've had flooding and it's just got progressively

01:44worse.

01:45This is the worst I've ever seen.

01:47I think the frustration of us all being aware of what the difficulty is and what the problem

01:52is and I think Helen Morgan is going to come down and have a look and point out what is

01:57one of the main problems and it's the fact that people in powers or people who are aware

02:03of it haven't actually done anything to resolve the issue.
