Nahki Wells proving age is just a number at Bristol City after great performances in Championship

Bristol City’s aged striker is continuing to perform in the Championship this season. Nahki Wells is also helping mentor the younger forwards for The Robins. Here’s a look at his impact.

00:10EFL striker, obviously 34 now, so numbers are slightly slowing down, but he's still

00:16had a decent return so far this season for his age and his experience at this level.

00:22I mean, incredible time at Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, didn't quite work out Burnley

00:28but then QPR he found some form again and then he's been at Bristol City for a number

00:32of seasons now and the fans are taking a like to him, but it's tough to look at a 34-year-old

00:39striker and think he's the solution to get you out of the championship. It's tough to

00:46really look at, but he's sort of proving that age is just a number and he is still firing

00:50in goals and he is a real pivotal part to Bristol City's success at times. We've obviously

00:56mentioned the inconsistency they have. What are your thoughts on him and how has he received

01:03at Bristol City? Obviously, as I say, he's been there a number of seasons, he's played

01:07a number of games for them and he's going to go down as a bit of a cult hero for the

01:11last few seasons, especially at Bristol City.

01:15Yeah, well, the man is 34 years old and as you say there, he's been around a bit in the

01:21EFL and especially in the championship, but he has been one of the regulars for Bristol

01:25City this season so far. Came into the sides around the October-November time and hasn't

01:32come out of it since. His form has kept him in there, he's scored a handful of goals and

01:39he's fully deserving of his spot in the team, to be honest. As we say, Bristol City have

01:45been inconsistent, but he's been one of the more consistent performers in terms of getting

01:49amongst the goals despite his age. He made clear himself that he didn't see himself getting

01:57into the side and staying in it at the start of the season, but now he thinks he's fully

02:01deserving himself of being in the team and he's actually keeping out some young players

02:06from the starting XI who are sat on the bench, young forwards such as Fale Miyulu and Sinclair

02:11Armstrong. But I think what's also important on those two young forwards is that the Bristol

02:17City boss, Liam Manning, has made clear that despite him keeping them out the side, he's

02:21been a really good mentor to them, role model to have alongside them, for them paving their

02:27way in this league as well. I think Liam Manning is really quite pleased with that, to be honest,

02:32and clearly it's working for them at the moment. Obviously, I know on the pitch in terms of

02:36results it goes up and down a bit at the moment for Bristol City, but certainly they've got

02:41a striker there who's scoring goals and who's also providing valuable footballing and life

02:45lessons to their two young forwards who, yes, are on the bench but are getting opportunities

02:49off the bench as well. That combination could be really invaluable for them in the months

02:56to come as the season progresses.
