00:00Supporters agreed to amend the Overseas Absentee Voting Act

00:05so that more Filipinos abroad can vote in the election.

00:09Under the amendment, electronic voting will be allowed

00:13through secured online platforms and postal voting options

00:18for those with limited internet connection.

00:20A special system will also be created exclusively for seafarers

00:25where they can vote during their vacation.

00:29The Commission on Elections passed guidelines

00:32to protect the vote data

00:35so that it can be used by Filipinos abroad.

00:38According to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano,

00:41in the face of the huge contribution of OFWs to the country's economy,

00:46the government should ensure that they can use their right

00:50to choose the leaders of the country.
