EU demands 'urgent' answers from TikTok about possible foreign interference in Romanian election

A series of declassified documents suggest TikTok was exploited by a "state actor" to influence the outcome of Romania's presidential election.

00:25The Commission has indeed sent to TikTok another request for information,

00:30this time asking the platform to provide comments to the issues raised in the intelligence documents

00:36that were declassified by the Romanian authorities,

00:40as well as information shared and actions undertaken by TikTok as a result of those issues.

00:46The EU Commission's request for TikTok is based on the Digital Services Act, DSA,

00:51and comes with a deadline of 24 hours.

00:54The first round of the election saw a previously unknown far-right nationalist candidate,

00:59Karlina Ceaușescu, top the polls in a shock result.
