00:00The government is losing a lot of money because of pecking persons with disability identification cards.

00:07That's what came out of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means.

00:11According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the government is losing P88 billion.

00:16And the fake PWD IDs are causing a lot of damage to the economy.

00:21While some local governments also brought up the issue,

00:25they discovered that it's really happening in their establishment.

00:31Fake PWD IDs.

00:34And the only way is to have that registry up and running.

00:37Definitely, there is a revenue forgone because you provide discounts,

00:4220% discount that is actually deductible to your corporate income tax,

00:47and also some VAT exemptions.

00:49If there are many fake IDs, it can also translate to higher prices for the general consumers.

00:57Because, one, these businesses are here to make profit.

01:02And if the system is abused with these discounts,

01:06then the only way to recoup those losses is by putting a higher price.
