Why VW workers walked out

VW workers across Germany have walked out in protest at plans to close plants. CGTN’s Trent Murray reports from Berlin.

00:05across Germany as a bitter wage dispute between unions and the company's

00:10management intensifies. VW is Europe's biggest automaker and it is facing

00:16increasing financial pressure. Its latest Q3 results showed its profits

00:21plummeting by 64% so it's trying to now save costs including asking its workers

00:28to take a 10% pay cut. That has angered unions here they say today's strike is a

00:35first warning and that if the issue isn't resolved it could turn into an

00:40unlimited strike going into the new year.
