130,000 people have taken part in a major march in the eastern Spanish city of Valencia
00:07
a month after the devastating floods.
00:11
They're demanding the resignation of regional officials who they accuse of fumbling the
00:14
emergency response that led to the deaths of more than 230 people.
00:20
They say emergency alerts were only sent to their mobile phones after some areas had already
00:24
been submerged.
00:26
The president of the Valencian community, Carlos Mazon, has resisted such calls, instead
00:31
reshuffling his cabinet and appointing new faces to lead recovery efforts.
00:36
Mazon refuses to take sole responsibility of the tragedy but acknowledged that mistakes
00:41
were made.
00:42
He says the floods were apocalyptic and unprecedented in nature, indicating that not much more could
00:48
have been done to change the outcome.
00:50
But Mazon insists his government is fully committed to recovery efforts and are working
00:54
hard at restoring the city's infrastructure to pre-flood levels.
