So we're with Luke Kent, the CEO of Warrnambool Racing Club.
00:08
Today is Jericho Cup Day.
00:10
Luke, tell me, preparations have been underway for a fair while, how are you feeling about
00:13
the day?
00:14
Yeah, they have.
00:15
A lot of hard work going into today, obviously.
00:18
Feeling really good.
00:19
Our pre-sales were well up for this year.
00:20
We obviously, you know, the event's gained a lot of momentum over the last few years,
00:21
and this year's been about 10% up before we even opened and gained some momentum.
00:22
So, which is nice.
00:23
And tell me, the weather is definitely not putting a dampener on the spirits of punters
00:34
today.
00:35
No, it certainly isn't.
00:36
We've got some people, a lot of people coming in actually.
00:38
G'day, I'm Dave and I'm a member of the Light Horse Troop here that operates locally in
00:42
the Warrnambool District area.
00:43
We're known as the Corangamite Light Horse Troop.
00:46
Today we're here at the Warrnambool races with the Jericho Cup.
00:49
The significance of that, the Jericho itself is a little town that was attacked during
00:53
World War One by the Australian Light Horse.
00:56
And over the last few years here at the racetrack, they've celebrated that by having what they
01:01
call the Jericho Cup, one of the longest flat races here in Australia.
