00:00Here we are. It's good to be back. Bigger and better than ever.

00:11Arthur Max's production design is of a calibre that is incomparable.

00:18Arthur did the original ideas. He did an incredible job. So I wanted him back.

00:24Somebody said to me, we're going to go for scale on this one. We're going to build everything bigger.

00:30Zero minus two we are now.

00:32Until we shoot.

00:34Which means we've got a hell of a lot of work to do.

00:39We built a five story real Roman Coliseum. All the streets, all the buildings were full scale.

00:45This is real. It's really like having the real thing.

00:48That's crazy, right?

00:52This set is really the size of a small town.

00:56There's an uptown and a downtown, several back streets.

01:01There's the bad neighbourhoods.

01:04There is something so incredible about these sets.

01:08Both huge and in a very personal context.

01:13Arthur Max is at the top of his game. You really see the detail and it's mastery.

01:19All of these are going to be up in the niches of the Coliseum.

01:24The creation of the ancient world. It's a team sport.

01:28There's all different departments who were on the first one working with me.

01:32Set dressing, props, greenery, construction, art department, production.

01:45We have to give credit to Joe Matheson for what is called the Valerian.

01:50What the structure does and what the sun does to the shadows reminds you of how big it was.

01:56I've been on some major sets. I've not been on a set like this one.

02:02Arthur has created the real thing. You're seeing it all play out and it's epic.

02:12This is the biggest film I've been on. It's huge. Cecil B. DeMille on steroids.

02:19It's much larger scale than the first Gladius.

02:22Everything is hand made. Everything is hand painted.

02:26Every angle is just beautiful.

02:30The signature of all of this is skilled craftsmen and hard work.

02:36I think it's tuned up beautifully, without question.

02:40Arthur is one of the best I've ever worked with.

02:43He did a great job. I couldn't do this without him.
