Elephant Madhubala relocated to Pakistan Safari Park

Madhubala, a 16-year-old elephant in Pakistan is being relocated from Karachi Zoo to Karachi Safari Park, where she will be reunited with her sisters.

00:00It is the last day in Karachi Zoo.

00:23A lot of work done in the last few months together with KMC to train this elephant,

00:28to train the mahout.

00:31When I came here first for the assessment, we diagnosed severe problems with the task.

00:35Then we came back one and a half year ago.

00:37We did a really severe task surgery for seven hours with my colleague Thomas Silverbrand

00:43from the institute and with the local colleagues here and with the forepaws team.

00:47And I'm so happy to see now this is totally healed.

00:52So the swelling is gone, the infection is gone, and she is mentally and physically right

00:56now in a good shape.

01:00She was alone here, her roommate was dying.

01:04It's not a good thing.

01:05Elephants are very smart and they are very social animals and I'm happy for her that

01:10she gets a little bit more room, a little bit more silence and a nice company.
