Over 1,000 youths gathered in Bucharest, protesting against far-right nationalist candidate Calin Georgescu, who won 23% in the first round of Romania's presidential election.

00:00More than 1,000 young people gathered in University Square, downtown Bucharest, praising Europe
00:06and chanting, ìPutin donít forget, Romania is not yours.î They are outraged by the percentage
00:12obtained by a nationalist independent candidate, Kalin Georgescu, in the first round of the
00:17presidential elections.
00:19Winning 23% of votes, Georgescu had a strong campaign on TikTok, where many of his videos
00:24went viral.
00:25So, protesters believed that they were robbed by social networks and want to send an alarm
00:29signal to political parties for them to get involved in order to prevent Georgescu from
00:34winning.
00:35Denying accusations of extremism, Georgescu made statements on European values but also
00:40underlying neutrality.
00:42A single place that belongs only to the people is accused of extremism, of links with neighboring
00:48or distant countries.

01:21Scheduled for December 8th, Georgescu will face center-right pro-EU Elena Lascuni, the
01:26leader of USR party, which stands for Save Romania Union, who qualified with 90% of votes.
01:33One of them will be the fifth name to steer the country's direction.
