What women want on International Women's Day

Forget the flowers and discounts, this is what women  actually want on International Women's Day... and on every day.

00:00For Women's Day, I want all women to be taken seriously.

00:02I want to be able to walk home alone at night and feel safe.

00:06I want men to keep their hands to themselves.

00:17For Women's Day, I want free menstrual products for women everywhere,

00:20and that includes incarcerated women.

00:22I would like for men to pick a moment out of their day

00:27and just imagine what it would be like to be a woman in that moment.

00:31For Women's Day, I want women of all sizes and shapes to love their body

00:35and to care about themselves.

00:37I want women to appreciate themselves.

00:40You don't need anyone else, no man, no nothing.

00:42I want to be able to text a guy first and for it to not be considered desperate.

00:46I want to be able to experience emotions without being called emotional.

00:49I would like maybe more acknowledgement to how hard it is for us to look pretty.

00:54I want women to be believed when they speak their truth.

00:56For Women's Day, I want men to keep their hands to themselves.

01:00I would like to see more equality in the politics.

01:04I want equality, same opportunities, equal payment, and human rights.

01:10I want to see more support systems for women that are incarcerated,

01:16regardless of if it's been, you know, a year, 10 years, 20 years, regardless of the offense.

01:21When they come out, programs that help them in every possible way get back on track.

01:26For Women's Day, I want abortion rights for everybody.

01:29Equal access to abortion and gender-affirming health care.

01:32For Women's Day, I want more men to support women like my friend Elliot.

01:37He's an ally!

01:38I want recognition for the day and I hope that it's not dismissed by other people.

01:43It's an important day and we should all come together and support women.
