Natalie Portman on “Thor: Love and Thunder”

This is how Natalie Portman feels about playing a superhero — at the age of 40, nonetheless.

00:00I just felt so grateful that this is my job.

00:03It was such a cool opportunity to get to play a superhero,

00:07especially the Mighty Thor is so, so incredible.

00:10And then to have her also have this human side

00:13that has weaknesses, that has vulnerabilities,

00:16that has fears, you know, was an incredible,

00:20like, I felt like it was something

00:22that I could relate to more than someone

00:24who's just tough and badass all the time.

00:30I felt almost like it was my own bias

00:33that I was surprised that they would cast me as it

00:36because they didn't seem to,

00:38and I think that's really testament to Taika and to Marvel

00:42that they didn't, like, it was never an issue for them.

00:45And for me, you know, turning 40 while I was playing

00:49a superhero was pretty,

00:50a pretty magnificent way to mark the milestone.
